Easter 2014

It was a beautiful Easter weekend.
We had a wonderful evening with Grandpa Jim, Barb and Shea..
and even got some eggs colored!

But the cough virus kept us up most of the night...
and required extra precautions in the baking of the Easter bunny cake!
We were almost late to church- but we made it...
and had a wonderful time at the Blecke Easter party.
The Easter bunny had left us a TON of eggs to find.

And some special eggs with clues that Grandpa Gary
had strategically hidden for the older kids to find!

I loved the Brazilian theme these two were sporting today!

Hope you all had a magical Easter on this gorgeous day.

So much stuff.

So much stuff going on in our complicated lives...
it was nice just to focus on
darling darling children...
( and I mean darling children.)
 Spring flowers...
 and happy families..
who drive crazy long distances..
to see people they love.
 Weeping cherries...
blooming for the first time.
 And best friends..
playing in the sunshine (following the rainstorms)...
with the cat who lets them totally waller him.
It was fun to hang out with
the guy who wore his batman costume...
most of the day.
(Even into the bathroom at the gas station.
I think he was probably the highlight of the
station attendant's day in High Point - LOL!)
 More Maxx love.
It's always a pleasure to hang out with
these two wonderful young adults...
who are so amazing to all the
little people in their lives.
We fit in an Easter egg hunt...
that took exactly 5 minutes...
once the whistle blew.
 But was some serious business..
and lots of fun.
 We ran in the rain....
and didn't worry about muddy feet...
or wet clothes.
Cause once again..
we are completely aware...
that life is just too short...
to worry about any of that little stuff.
And in fact...
you better just enjoy every detail...
and definitely jump in muddy puddles!

Sunday Spotlight...Spring has sprung

I want to believe it is true...
that spring has truly arrived.
The animals believe it to be so...
at least Maxx had extra energy today
for tree climbing!
 The creeks are running...
which is my very favorite thing.
I love to hear the water running over this big rock
under our bridge.
The day before the rains began...
we planted our memory tree.
We love it.
And feel like it will be a wonderful
way to remember two people we miss so much.
We celebrated an anniversary this weekend..
and have had the wonderful opportunities
 last Saturday
and this Saturday
 to have TWO evenings
(and 2 mornings...and 2 afternoons!)
to ourselves...
and it has been rejuvenating.
Kristi and Shelby took kiddos last weekend...
and Erin and Aaron took them this weekend.
We watched movies..
finished The Walking Dead
(man I love that show - even though it
gives me the occasional nightmare)
We ate yummy home cooked food.
And talked.
And talked.
And worked in our gardens.
It was SO nice.
We mulched...
and planted...
and started working on the
swimming pool :)
The kids had a great time both places...
but were glad to get back...
to ride bikes...
play outside this gorgeous evening..
and just be home.

Much as I enjoyed the quiet...
I must admit I missed these guys so much.
Glad to have the chaos HOME!
