Sunday Spotlight - "canooting"

 Boiling Springs Campground
32-42 million gallons of water literally boil out of a spring right in front of this enormous cliff.
The campground is quiet and family oriented...
perfect for a lazy weekend
of "canooting!"
(I don't think ever Ava did get it right - she always added that T to the end!)
Mom and Dad went down early and got everything set up...
and we showed up around 7PM to enjoy a beautiful
evening around the campfire and hoped for some time
between storms on Saturday to swim and float.
It did turn out to be a beautiful day.
With tons of wildlife and interesting things to learn about!
 We practiced our rock skipping...
and I think everyone still has the touch!
Kristi and Shelby showed up with kayaks and canoes!
 and then....it rained!
But really it didn't slow any of the fun down...
we just turned around and came back to camp...
and relaxed until it stopped.
(well some people played ball in the rain!)

After the rain shower - we went down and practiced our skills...
checked out the spring...
and swam.
 The water was perfect.
And after the rain passed by...
the breeze was just right and the sun was shining.
They had never been swimming in a creek or river..
but they liked the Gasconade and their swim shoes
and enjoyed every minute of it!
Alec practiced his elementary backstroke - LOL!
They were discussing the possibility of bears in the cave up in the cliff.
Today...we quickly loaded up our stuff and
packed up our campers.
Shelby dropped us off at the bridge for a 3 mile float
and off we went!
It was awesome.
The kids loved it.
I'm thinking this is the first of many float trips
with these three!
(If my tired old body can stand it for 15 more years that is!)

Sunday Spotlight - School days

August 16, 2012
First day of school!
These two were up and ready
and down the lane early to catch the bus!
 I worried for nothing.
Ayden was totally excited about first grade - not scared at all.
Ava was quiet - but not fearful.
When her daddy asked her if she wanted him to meet her at school..
she said "Why?"
Alec was not sad like I thought he might be.
(In fact he joyfully ran up the lane after they got on the bus)
I will admit - I fought off a few tears.
My babies are growing up.
The past 4 slightly exhausting years...
we knew there would come a time
that we would say...
this is getting easier.
And we are there.

Ta Daa - swimming lessons!

It was a busy week around the BLT!  These 3 had swimming lessons every day (thank you Miss Audrey) and a field trip!  It was hot, hot, hot as usual - so swimming was perfect.
Alec advanced to level 2!
And Ava and Ayden advanced to level 3!  They just need to perfect their elementary back stroke and their exiting techniques and they will be ready for level 4.  So proud of all 3 - they did great!
We went to our first movie in the theatre this weekend also - and they loved it!  IceAge 3 - fun and not too long - so it was the perfect 1st movie!
I forgot my camera - but used Sam's favorite Iphone camera app
Ta Daa!
Very fun app - and it's free!

 Sweet funny Korby!
 Ava's new bed!
She kinda likes it!
