What in the world....is that by your eye Miss Ava? It looked like a little red pimple right on the edge of the incision below her eyelid from her surgery six weeks. She looked great for her dance recital photos...but you can see it.
(this was taken on my phone by the way - the real thing is yet to come!)
And that evening during our Celebrate Adoption family picnic....it got a bit bigger. Kinda like a mosquito bite. (Ayden had the most drama during the party as he burnt his face with his marshmallow roaster! Ouch...and he is pure drama so it was pretty intense for awhile).
On Sunday while we were celebrating Mothers Day....Ava's eye anomaly grew a bit more. I did a bit of internet research and decided it could be a sty...or a bite. So we applied warm compresses and hoped for the best. The next morning we were greeted by an infected looking dime size "something". We freaked and called the pediatrician ....who sent us to urgent care. We got some antibiotics for what she called "an abcess" and again hoped for the best.
Tuesday it was twice as big.
Scary. huh?
And I started stalking our opthamologist surgeon with pictures. He also was a bit worried by end of day Tuesday as it was still huge and seriously disgusting. I kept thinking spider bite.
So we made arrangements to be in his office yesterday at 9AM (STL).

After her shower on Wednesday night...(a long long long shower) it started draining.
And it felt and looked so much better.
We breathed a sigh of relief - but we were still very very worried.
Yesterday the dr said if it hadn't started improving he had her scheduled for surgery tomorrow.
And he said it was the worst "chalazion" he had ever seen.
Oh my Gosh. It all happened so quickly...and by golly she is quite the little trooper.
Last night as she was looking at it in the mirror...she told her dad.
"Man, I hate this thing!"
"Man, I hate this thing!"
So do we Ava....so do we.
Anyway - it's Thursday....and I'm just now posting the Sunday spotlight.
Hope you'll forgive me.
It's been a little crazy.
