Sunday Spotlight - "canooting"

 Boiling Springs Campground
32-42 million gallons of water literally boil out of a spring right in front of this enormous cliff.
The campground is quiet and family oriented...
perfect for a lazy weekend
of "canooting!"
(I don't think ever Ava did get it right - she always added that T to the end!)
Mom and Dad went down early and got everything set up...
and we showed up around 7PM to enjoy a beautiful
evening around the campfire and hoped for some time
between storms on Saturday to swim and float.
It did turn out to be a beautiful day.
With tons of wildlife and interesting things to learn about!
 We practiced our rock skipping...
and I think everyone still has the touch!
Kristi and Shelby showed up with kayaks and canoes!
 and then....it rained!
But really it didn't slow any of the fun down...
we just turned around and came back to camp...
and relaxed until it stopped.
(well some people played ball in the rain!)

After the rain shower - we went down and practiced our skills...
checked out the spring...
and swam.
 The water was perfect.
And after the rain passed by...
the breeze was just right and the sun was shining.
They had never been swimming in a creek or river..
but they liked the Gasconade and their swim shoes
and enjoyed every minute of it!
Alec practiced his elementary backstroke - LOL!
They were discussing the possibility of bears in the cave up in the cliff.
Today...we quickly loaded up our stuff and
packed up our campers.
Shelby dropped us off at the bridge for a 3 mile float
and off we went!
It was awesome.
The kids loved it.
I'm thinking this is the first of many float trips
with these three!
(If my tired old body can stand it for 15 more years that is!)
